Today’s TV gem: When Olivia Newton-John was the guest on “The Jane Pauley Show” in 2004

We all know beloved TV newswoman Jane Pauley from her long stints as co-host of NBC’s The Today Show and Dateline and from her current role as host of the absolutely terrific CBS Sunday Morning.

What you might not remember is that during the 2004-05 television season, Miss Pauley took a stab at becoming the next Oprah with her own syndicated talk show. She was great, as usual, but ratings weren’t big enough to result in a second season.

One of her guests during that year was Olivia Newton-John who was then 57 and had just released a new album paying tribute to various female singers who had influenced her. She sings a few of the songs on this show and my favorite is ONJ’s version of the Minnie Ripperton classic Lovin’ You.
