Today’s Totally Random Video: See “54 (Director’s Cut)” Ryan Phillippe and Breckin Meyer kissing scene
From the 1998 movie “54″ (Director’s Cut), which was released in 2015 and quickly became a Gay Cult Classic.
In the theatrical version, the main character’s bisexuality and all of the gay scenes were completely erased by the studio while eliminating 44 minutes of footage in the process.
After constant changes, editing and re-shooting to make it “more hetero”, the film came out in theaters and bombed at the box office.
Seventeen years later, “54″ returned with a Director’s Cut and finally became the film that was meant to be with 36 minutes worth of restored, never-before-seen footage and gay/bisexual content that stayed true to the original screenplay.
Among the scenes restored was this kissing scene between Ryan Phillippe and Breckin Meyer.

So much emotion in this scene alone, Phillippe tugs at our heart strings…what is almost the lead in to a William Higgins feature, becomes an all too familiar and painful memory for those of us who found the angst, beauty, and confusion a heady and irresistible mix with which our own young lives would be formed in the Go-Go ‘80’s and beyond.
