Today’s Morning Man: Jake Gyllenhaal!

Wishing a happy 44th birthday to the handsome and talented Jake Gyllenhaal who is currently starring in the Apple TV+ series Presumed Innocent as a prosecutor becomes the prime suspect in the murder of his colleague with whom he was having an affair. The show will be returning for a second season.

An Academy Award nominee for Brokeback Mountain, he’s done award-worthy work in such quality films as Nightcrawler, Nocturnal Animals, Stronger, Prisoners, Zodiac, Love & Other Drugs, Moonlight Mile, Jarhead, among others.

His breakthrough roles were as Homer Hickam in October Sky (1999) and as a psychologically troubled teenager in Donnie Darko (2001).

On the stage, Jake garnered a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Play for his performance in the play Sea Wall/A Life. He made his Broadway debut in the play Constellations in 2015 and two years later starred in the musical Sunday in the Park with George. He will be returning to Broadway in 2025 in a revival of William Shakespeare’s tragedy Othello starring opposite Denzel Washington.
