Today’s Morning Man: Finn Wittrock!
Finn Wittrock first caught my eye more than a decade ago for a role he had on the late, great daytime soap All My Children.
The handsome young actor, who turns 39 today, is now a huge star who in recent years has been cast in a series of buzz worthy and award-winning movies and television shows. He also remains active on the stage and was very good in last year’s 2:22 which I saw him in at the Ahmanson Theatre.
A two-time Emmy nominee, the actor played serial killer Edmund Tolleson in the Netflix series Ratched which was yet another collaboration with Ryan Murphy who also gave him juicy roles in the FX series American Horror Story: Freak Show, American Horror Story: Hotel, and American Horror Story: Roanoke. He also portrayed murder victim Jeffrey Trail in the FX crime drama series The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story and has a role in the Emmy-winning film The Normal Heart.
Wittrock co-starred as Judy Garland’s fifth and final husband Mickey Deans in the biopic Judy, co-starred in Adam McKay’s drama film The Big Short. In 2016, Wittrock had a small role in the musical La La Land, directed by Damien Chazelle.
The Julliard grad has also had an impressive Broadway career making his debut in 2012 as Happy Loman in the revival of Arthur Miller’s play Death of a Salesman, directed by Mike Nichols and more recently was in the Sam Gold-directed production of Tennessee Williams’ play The Glass Menagerie, opposite Sally Field and Joe Mantello.
