Today’s Afternoon Man: Darryl Stephens!

How can I not feature the talented, handsome and overall wonderful Darryl Stephens on his birthday?

Darryl, currently a regular on the CBS comedy B Positive, also recently revived his role of Andrew in Boy Culture, an episodic sequel to the 2006 movie of the same name in which he starred. I was also so happy to see Darryl revive his most famous role of Noah in Noah’s Arc: The ‘Rona Chronicles in 2020.

He’s given us so many great onscreen memories over the years as he also starred in DTLA, Another Gay Movie, Tiger Orange, From Zero to I Love You, Coffee House Chronicles, Hot Guys With Guns, and so many more TV shows, films, and web series in addition to plenty of roles on stage. In 2011, he was nominated for an LA Ovation Award for Featured Actor in a Play for the role of Victoria in the Bootleg Theatre production of The Interlopers.

Last year, Darryl spoke to The Advocate about being a dad: “I think that it’s one of the greatest gifts of life to wake up taking care of somebody every day. I don’t know if this is all gay men, but as an actor, we can be so focused on our bodies, on our faces, on our careers, on the cars we’re driving, on the throw pillows on our couch. The shit that really does not matter suddenly falls away. And I will be completely honest, I’ve not been to the gym in a year and a half. Suddenly, it becomes about something real, something that’s not about your own ego. It’s about someone’s wellbeing, someone else’s happiness, someone else’s health and adorable outfit and smile and her teeth coming in and stuff like that. Everything shifts. And I am so grateful for that shift. I think it’s changed who I am in the best way.”

Happy birthday Darryl!
