Thursday Morning Man: Josh Brolin!
Josh Brolin turned 52 yesterday and he is aging like fine wine.
Not only is Josh oh-so movie star handsome, he’s just one heck of an actor who I’ve been a big fan of since his performance as a bisexual dude with an armpits fetish in Flirting With Disaster.
With a face like that, it would have been easy for Josh to cash in on his matinee idol looks. But he has refused and instead taken on character roles such as George W. Bush in W, Dan White in Milk and the 2008 trifecta of No Country for Old Men, In the Valley of Elah and American Gangster.
In casting Brolin as Bush in the biopic W, director Oliver Stone said: It always seemed to me that he was the right person. Although classically handsome, I think he would consider himself a character actor first and foremost, and it was in this context that I thought of him as W. Josh certainly has star appeal and could be a leading man, but I don’t think he necessarily wants to be that. I think he really enjoys disappearing into a character.’
Broil’s career took on even bigger proportions in recent years with the villainous character of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. He also played Cable opposite Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 2.
