Throwback Thursday: Labor Day at Rock Hudson’s house with Lauren Bacall, Robert Wagner and more!

Hi again, it’s your suddenly erratic-posting blogger. Came across this video and had to share it here and now. It was the mid-1960s and Labor Day at Rock Hudson’s house. This is a silent home movies taken by Roddy McDowall. I see lots of Lauren Bacall who I’m sure was married to Jason Robards then because I think I see their son Sam. I also see Robert Wagner between marriages to Natalie Wood. If you spot other famous folks, let me know in the comments!

6 Remarks

  1. That’s director George Cukor standing with Rock and others early on, and he’s seen walking around during the clip. Several other familiar faces but their names don’t spring quickly to my head.

  2. George Cukor in the glasses. That’s Adolph Green in the Navy captain’s cap (tap dances a little in bare feet). I think the most often seen blonde is Constance Towers.

  3. Also: the guy with a mustache, in white long-sleeved shirt, holding a parasol is Mike Romanoff of Romanoff’s restaurant.

  4. Is that Suzanne Pleshette in the teeny white shorts and big black sunglasses?

  5. Was that Natalie Schaefer with the large hat and parasol, perhaps George Nader in the unbuttoned blue shirt? Also a number of young, good-looking, well built men in swimsuits.

  6. JP, YES! ..that is Natalie Schaefer in the yellow holding the parasol..! I just watched it, and came to say so. As soon as she appeared on the screen I recognized her.
