Things get REALLY ugly between Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker after death of Cattrall’s brother

Wow. My sympathies to Kim Cattrall and her family over the loss of her brother. But her public lashing out at former Sex and the City co-star Sarah Jessica Parker seems over-the-top and cruel: On Saturday morning, Cattrall posted an Instagram directly addressed to Parker: “I don’t need your love or support at this tragic time @sarahjessicaparker,” her picture said. Cattrall’s brother, Christopher, died earlier this month just hours after being reported missing.

She continued her message in the caption: “My Mom asked me today ‘When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?’ Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now,” Cattrall wrote. “Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona.”

Parker had told Entertainment Tonight when news broke of Cattrall’s brother’s death that “If somebody in your life, whether you’re in touch with them or not, [is] suffering for any reason, it’s involuntary that you want to convey condolences or sadness or just let someone know you’re thinking about them.” She also told Extra, “I can’t begin to know how her family is managing such a loss. We all send her our love and condolences and grant her the privacy that she’s asked for.”

I honestly like Kim Catrall but thought he response to Sarah’s statement of condolence rather ungracious and harsh. If she felt it was insincere, she just should have let it slide, ignored it and not issued any kind of statement as to her feelings. Sometimes, Kim the words left unspoken are the best.

  2. They both need to stop this public mess and just have some civility and keep it private. This isn’t how adults typically behave. One of the reasons I think modern Hollywood lacks mystique and so forth is because people just babble about everything rather than expressing things quietly and one to one like most folks.

  3. When someone offers their condolences on the passing of a loved one, say thank you. If you don’t like the person for whatever reason, still say thank you. Say nothing else otherwise you make yourself look like a gigantic asshole.

  4. I can’t imagine what horrible thing(s) SJP did to Cattrall. She’s always seemed like a “nice girl” to me. Maybe she’s a bitch on wheels privately, or Cattrall has mentally slipped the rails.

  5. None of us knows what their relationship is or was like, or what the atmosphere was truly like on and off set during the filming of SitC. Cattrall is clearly hurting now with the death of her brother, and has been hurt in the past by SJP (who would say any of these things if the reports of the animosity weren’t at least in part true?)

Regardless of how you feel about Cattrall airing this in public, she clearly has had enough of what she sees as gross hypocrisy from SJP. She has every right to speak about it. Your comfort with it is not her concern, nor should it be.

  6. It’s not about comfort mine or anyone else’s. It’s about class. This is just tacky to air out. We seem to keep right on diving to the bottom when it comes to stuff lkke this.

  7. While we are not privy to what has gone on between these two, and SJP may have been truly awful to her in the past, but Cattrall’s response was graceless to the extreme. There’s no excuse.

  8. From what I can gather from previous interviews and reports is these two women have been engaged in a heirarichal battle over status and waged on this show/films for ages. In otherwords, mother Cattrall wants the horns go toot-toot as loudly as they do for Ms. Parker and they just don’t. A spoiled ego is a sour drink over time and it seems to have spoiled Ms. Cattrall.

  9. Cruel, ungracious, harsh…have you folks ready what Kim had to endure?. I applaud Kim for not going along with politically correct BS. The aim should be at sarah for using this tragedy to rehabilitate her reputation as shrew.

  10. Deepest sympathy for all the loss is in order. Loss of a love-one (RIP), loss of a friendship or two or three is pretty tragic (RIP) and loss of yourself seems like the worse (RIP).
It’s awful how all of this is playing out but it seems this has a great deal to do with money. When SJP would go from cast member to one of the producers of the show then that is when you started to hear the whispering about bickering and alleged ‘cat fights’ on the set. You know what cast is legendary for sticking together and that would be the cast of ‘Friends’, they all “secured the bag” (as the young, hip crowd swears on and by) with one another in mind. They wouldn’t set foot on the sound-stage until all of them got a piece of the pie (Dollars and Cent) and it made sense. Kim C. was the ‘Elder Stateswoman’ and felt like she has paid her dues in ‘THE CITY OF BIG LIGHTS AND BIGGER BROKEN DREAMS’ and possibly she threw around the idea of producing and directing a few episodes but was probably shot down because regardless of how you feel about SJP she was the CAPTAIN of the ship. Kim’s character literally “GAVE YOU LIFE” back when it was on the air and even now. You know I still love the reruns like I don’t know what to do whenever ‘The Golden Girls’ (another one of my favorites) is on when ‘SATC’ is on because I truly adore both of these now defuncted shows. ‘Samantha Jones’ was/is a crucial character on the show and possibly every storyline would have some of Sam’s energy all up and through it but SJP’s ‘Carrie’ was a game-changer like never before. I don’t feel that Kim is mad at SJP, maybe just a little but she is more disappointed in HBO and ‘THE POWERS THAT BE’.
I remember hearing or reading how Kim wanted to have her own show and have the same ‘creative freedom’ but have a great deal of “EXECUTIVE POWER” as SJP would have and I can state ‘rightfully so’. Unlike Kristin and Cynthia, who seem like gals that didn’t want to tango with all the Hollywood politics, Kim didn’t mind doing a dance due to what she saw as ‘staying power’ in an industry that she would survive with blood, sweat and tears for a few years of being a bit of an ‘IT-Girl’ at one point in time. ‘Mannequin’, ‘Porky’s', and ‘Police Academy’ to name a few but SATC would make Kim C. a household name and I know Kristin and Cythnia would realize that as soon as all the buzz was about this little cable show that somehow developed a cult-like following. It’s about knowing your lane and staying in it until you can’t take it anymore or figuring something else out. Kim C. didn’t realize that all of her years in the business couldn’t have helped her land a few directing gigs and I realized that executive producer of a show might give you a bit more money in the long run but just supposed that Kim got that good behind-the-lense where she would have been asked to direct a big blockbuster or even directing a few episodes of SATC would have been a big deal. Eyeing up someone else’s cornbread at the dinner table is a mess!!!!!!!! You have to stay focused on your own plate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
