Terrific “Wolverine” opens big at the box office
Hugh Jackman is not only is he the reigning sexiest man alive, but he is also king of the box office this weekend. X-Men Orgins: Wolverine grossed an estimated $87 million at the domestic box office to become the summer season’s first official blockbuster. I joined my friends Danny Sullivan and Lorna Harris in Newport Beach in watching the movie last night at a place called Triangle Square. There was no stadium seatingĀ (OMG!) and a little girl sitting in front of us gave Danny and I the stink eye becauyse we had the nerve to talk before the previews. Then we ate entirely too much popcorn and coke and were nearly puking after the movie.
But I must say this: the movie was TERRIFIC! I have never been a big X-Men fan but this was easy to follow and a very buff Hugh is in almost every scene. Upping the beefcake quotient (and the only real moments of comedy) is Ryan Reynolds who I wish we had seen more of.

And then there is a guy named
Taylor Kitsch who I became quite smitten with. I’ve looked up his credits and see that he one of the stars of NBC’s
Friday Night Lights so I’m sure he already has quite the fan base. He has that “it” quality – not just very good looking but a certain charisma and screen presence. I predict big things. He’s a former model whose previous film credits include
The Covenent, Gospel Hill, John Tucker Must Die and
Snakes on a Plane.
Anyway, I highly recommend X-Men Orgins: Wolverine and happy for Hugh Jackman that this helps to make up for the box office disappointment of Australia.
