TCM host Robert Osborne has died at the age of 84

Robert Osborne will be so missed by TCM viewers and attendees of this year’s TCM Classic Film Festival. He died today in his home in New York City. When I worked at The Hollywood Reporter, Robert was a columnist who would visit from New York several times a year. The day I met him we sat and he told me stories about Lucille Ball and Bette Davis and others and I was like a kid in a candy store. Will never forget that day. RIP Robert and thanks for the memories. Go to Gay Star News to read the story I’ve written about his passing at the age of 84.

3 Remarks

  1. WOW, I’m so sad to hear this, seeing him on TCM speaking about old Hollywood celebs was the highlight of my day. Rest in Peace Robert Osborne.

  2. Robert Osborne had class. Real Class.
A true gentleman and a great Hollywood Scholar.
Too bad so many others in Hollywood can’t rise to his impeccable level.

I met him briefly in the 80′s and he was one of, if not the nicest, kindest, most generous people I ever met in Hollywood. Also, completely unassuming and friendly. He went out of his way to assist me attend an event hosted by my idol Barbra Streisand. I was always sorry that I did not realize at the time what a rare fellow he was, perhaps we could have been good friends. He is irreplaceable and I am not kidding when I say he should have or should receive a special Oscar!

  3. I hadn’t heard this, and I’m terribly sad. I loved Robert Osborne and always enjoyed him speaking of film and those involved. You will be greatly missed. With much love.
