Sunday Rerun: The Sue Ann Nivens-Phyllis Lindstrom confrontation on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”

Beyond stressful times across Los Angeles right now with the devastating fires.

Here’s a bit of distraction if you are able to take a minute to enjoy.

Betty White was supposed to be a one-time guest star on The Mary Tyler Moore Show in 1973 in the episode titled The Lars Affair. In it, Phyllis (Cloris Leachman) struggles to accept the idea that her husband, Lars, might be having an affair with the saccharine Sue Ann Nivens, WJM’s Happy Homemaker, payed by White. This scene in Sue Ann’s set kitchen shows why White was so genius in the role as she shows us all Sue Ann’s no-so-sweet side in the way she slams the oven door shut with her knee.

Enjoy the scene!
