Sunday Morning Men: Roger Federer & Rafael Nadal!
Later today, one of today’s Morning Men will be the 2017 Australian Open champion.
They are, of course Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal who are already two of the greatest male tennis players in the history of the game. A victory by either one will only add to their legend.
Roger has won 17 grand slam titles – more than any other man in history. Nadal is tied with Pete Sampras in second place with 14. They have played in the French finals four times, the Wimbledon finals three times and once before in the Australian Open final. Nadal has not won a major since the 2014 French Open. For Federer, the slam title drought dates back to 2012 Wimbledon. But he was a Wimbledon finalist in 2014 and 2015 and a US Open finalist in 2015.
Federer’s run to the final in Australia comes after a six month break from the game as he recovered from injuries. He’s beaten three top10 players along the way including reigning US Open champion Stan Wawrinka. Nadal also ended last season a month early due to injury and his world ranking hd dropped to nine.
The two champions have always gotten along famously despite their intense on-court rivalry
