Sunday Morning Man: Martin Henderson!

Happy 49th birthday today to actor Martin Henderson, the hunky New Zealander who I first became aware of when he was one of the stars of the short-lived series Off the Map in 2011.

Since 2019, he has starred in the Netflix romantic drama Virgin River as Jack Sheridan, a role he began after spending two seasons on the long-running medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.

His first big break came as a teenager when he landed the role of Stuart Neilson in the New Zealand soap opera Shortland Street on which he appeared on 1992–1995. He then lived in Australia for three years and appeared in a number of Australian films and television productions including Echo Point and Home and Away.

His film roles include The Ring, Windtalkers, Bride and Prejudice, Little Fish, Kick, Torque, Everest, and Flyboys, among others.

One Remark

  1. I loved Martin on Grays.

Many times I watch Gray’s with the clicker going fast forward. I am in healthcare and I have never seen that much drama in a hospital. I would say the circumstances do happen but maybe not at that intensity.

The problem with Gray’s Anatomy is that it has such a large cast and trying to fit everyone with their arcs is problematic.

I have seen many missed opportunities in the storytelling. Chris Carmack-Lincoln-what a waste of talent. Richard Flood-Hayes was supposed to be a love interest of Meridith. It’s like they just didn’t know what to do with him. Great actor. If you have not seen Crossing Lines give it a watch. Scott Speedman, Alex Landi, and others should have been used to match their talents. What a waste when they phased out Alex Blue Davis-Dr. Casey Parker-trans-the-writers missed an opportunity in 2017-2020 to be at the forefront of trans acceptance. The show told a little of his story but the writers could have taken it further. And I don’t mean in an in-your-face type of way but more of this character is trans so what. He is successful, smart, and engaging. Alex is trans in real life as well.

    Have a great week Greg!!
