Sunday Morning Man: Josh Cooke!
I went to see I Love You, Man yesterday – finally – and thoroughly enjoyed it. There was a scene in it where Andy Samberg’s (he played Paul Rudd’s gay brother) is trying to find his brother a bromance at the gym where Andy is a trainer. Andy shows his brother how easy it is to flirt with a straight guy and locks eyes with a cute guy doing the bench press.
That guy was played by Josh Cooke.
Josh has only two short scenes in the film and maybe one or two lines which is a pity because he is a wonderful comic actor and I have a huge crush on him. It all began when he did a wonderfully quirky comedy on NBC called Committed back in 2005. It only lasted 12 episodes and I watched every one of them. He and Jennifer Finnigan had the most wonderfully goofy chemistry. Also in the cast was Tammy Lynn Michaels and the late Tom Poston in one of his final roles.
Josh didn’t have much more luck on his next NBC comedy Four Kings which ran 11 episodes. Hoping the third time would be the charm, Josh then starred in the ABC comedy Big Day: 12 episodes.
Despite the lack of success on the tv series front so far, Josh has been terrific in all that he does and he has had no trouble getting guest spots (Scrubs, Saving Grace) and movie roles including the recent Bachelor Party 2: The Last Temptation.
Hey, Tom Hanks did the first Bachelor Party flick and things worked out pretty well for him!
