Sunday Morning Man: John King!
When I was in Denver covering the Democratic National Convention, it was a who’s who of hot news anchors down on the field of the baseball stadium where then candidate Barack Obama was going to make his big speech accepting the nomination of his party.
I had already spotted such hotties as Terry Moran of ABC’s Nightline and that Silver fox Anderson Cooper. Then I see this hunky blond dude going out for a pass and catching a football with some crew members.
It was CNN’s John King.
He may have looked like some frat guy but he’s really the 46-year-old chief national correspondent for CNN and anchor of Sunday news program State of the Union With John King.
King (no relation to Larry!) joined CNN in 1997 and was senior White House correspondent from 1999 to 2005. Despite his golden boy looks, King’s journalistic roots are in print: Before joining CNN, hewrote for the Associated Press which he joined in 1985. In 1991 he was named chief political correspondent and headed the AP’s political coverage of the 1992 and 1996 presidential elections.
