Sunday Morning Man: Charlie David!

Actor-writer-producer Charlie David is one of those guys who is so good looking you just want to slap him in the face! But then you don’t because once you talk to him, you realize he is so much more than a pretty face. He’s someone who makes things happen for himself as you can see with his movie Mulligans, out on DVD this Tuesday.

I met Charlie in Chicago at a National Gay and Lesbian Journalists convention 4-5 years ago – before he gained fame as Toby on Dante’s Cove. We talked for a long time one night at a mixer and I’ve interviewed him many times since then. He has not changed a bit – except maybe that he’s even more handsome now.

In one of our interviews, Charlie and I discussed his decision to be an openly gay actor from the start: `People said I was crazy to come out,” he said. “I’m sure I’ve lost roles and I’ve gained some roles. But I wouldn’t change the decision. It’s a sign of the times that we are having more men and women coming out early in their careers. No matter when someone comes out, I think it’s freeing for the industry and I’m happy for them as a person. Our lives just become so much easier.”
