Spotlight on Kevin Hart’s anti-gay jokes after he’s announced as Oscars host – he tweets response to growing furor

We will have to see how this plays out.

I don’t see how the Academy keeps Kevin Hart as host of this year’s Oscars in light of the controversy over his anti-gay tweets from several years ago.

With so many of this year’s likely acting nominees being up for LGBT roles in films such as The Favourite, Boy Erased, Bohemian Rhapsody, Green Book, and Can You Ever Forgive Me?, it would make for an awkward night.

Especially since Hart, in a tweet posted today, isn’t doing himself or the Academy or ABC which is broadcasting the show, any favors in his reaction to the growing furor.

Here are some links to stories on the controversy:

3 Remarks

  1. If this had been in his stage show only, fine with me. I will give comedians license to go where it isn’t polite to go in mixed company in a manner of speaking.

This is on twitter, just to be insulting. Yes, it was a few years ago. If this were all about him insulting women, using racist terms angrily, or anything of that nature he’d give a real apology.

We all grow as people. We all change our views (hopefully) as we receive new information and experience new things in life. But this non-apology is just bull.

I would have totally respected a “I’ve moderated my views, I was wrong, I’m sorry.” Instead he deletes, then makes this BS “apology” public. No thanks, Kevin. Stuff it.

  2. Kevin Hart, not remorseful at all. I expected more from a almost 40 year old man but what is on Twitter is deflect it onto the victims of his not-funny jokes. Shame on you Kevin.

  3. NICE TRY BUT NOONE IS BUYING HIS BULLSHIT..THEY SHOULD BACK OUT ON HIM NOW BEFORE THIS GETS UGLY AND RUINS THE OSCARS..HE CANNOT EVEN OPOLOGIZE BUT TRYS TO PRETEND IT IS SOMEONE ELSE’S PROBLEM WHAT HE HAS SAID
