Sorry Whitney Houston, sorry Cher, but Lady Gaga delivered the best Super Bowl National Anthem ever!

Oh my, this is something – really something.

It’s clear why Lady Gaga has become the go-to performer for big events like The Sound if Music medley at last year’s Academy Awards and the David Bowie tribute at this year’s Grammys.

She delivered a stupendous version of our National Anthem before the start of Super Bowl 50 that pretty much sets the new standard. I doubt anyone will ever be able to match it – ever.

Her look was perfect from her hair to her outfit to her fingernails to her shoes to her make-up and then she opened her mouth. OMG. Not only did she sound fantastic, but she performed the song in a way that she was feeling it and that made us feel it.

Well done Lady Gaga – very well done.

  1. That was great! even though it was removed from your site, it’s easy to click on to Youtube and watch. Thanks, Greg.

  2. It was ok but I definetly wouldn’t say she was better then “The Voice” Whitney.

  3. Agree, Greg. While I loved Whitney’s version it was far too over the top for what it was supposed to be. This isn’t the place for vocal acrobatics and melismas out the ass. This was classy and should draw her a few more fans who might’ve been resistant before.

  4. Hell to the NO! La Houston’s performance was neither challenged, nor exceeded by Lady Gaga’s fine rendition.

  5. I love Gaga more than most because she is just FABULOUS like no other and I hate to disagree with you Greg because to me you are my guide to all things Fab and just Ultra-trendy without throwing up in my face but I can’t disagree with you more. My hoping, wishing and praying would be if she would have had Tony Bennett with her for this performance because they are THE DYNAMIC DUO like no other business. Then something was throwing me off from this performance and it wasn’t her voice which was flawless or her outfit which rocked but it was her hair.
It was the perfect color blonde for her and all of us know that Gaga wears hair like no one’s business but this hair was giving me Charlize Theron in ‘Monster’.
I tried not to ever think negative of Gaga because I was literally on the blogs defending my girl when Leo ‘One trick pony’ (he seems the same in ever role to me and I can’t lie, I would love to live in his underwear forever because he is gorgeous but his acting is pretty one dimensional) D. was throwing her serious shade during The Golden Globes.
You mentioned how she was topping the late and great Whitney (R.I.P) but I’m sorry to state how I had to watch Whitney and Gaga back to back and I realized that Whitney’s performance was effortless. Remember this was a time when Whitney might not have been the perfect angel that she was portrayed as but her voice, her instrument was in good shape. No one had discipline and control like her during this performance and I would love to think Gaga would rank up there but I have seen a few performance that gave Whitney a run for her money but still no one could do it. Whitney was in her element and at her best like no other. Gaga was great and deserves a few stars but I’m sorry Greg and whomever thinks she was better. It wasn’t just the fact that her voice was FLAWLESS but her performance wasn’t forced and without any kind of vain but just her stripped down as she could be and it worked. Gaga was right there in her element and just serving the world what they wanted and it worked because it was an A but honey, Ms. Whitney gave you A+++++……….

  6. Whitney’s Superbowl version should not be considered given the fact that she lip-synched a pre-recorded version…Shameful! Gaga’s phenomenal rendition however was performed LIVE.

  7. @Cool Curt: Don’t forget that as good as Whitney’s was, it was NOT performed live so of course it seemed effortless… it was.
