Some of Debbie and Carrie’s best screen moments

Still processing that Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher are both gone – so suddenly. Thank God for all they left behind in terms of movies – we can highlight the books and talk shows and Broadway triumphs later. Both mom and daughter became superstars at 19 with the lead female roles in two classic pictures: Singin’ in the Rain and Star Wars, respectively. Carrie went on to appear in three more Star Wars sequels and had already filmed her scenes for another. She also had memorable roles in The Blues Brothers, When Harry Met Sally, Hannah and her Sisters and her film debut Shampoo. Debbie’s other best known films included, of course, The Unsinkable Molly Brown, How the West Was Won, Tammy and the Bachelor, Bundle of Joy, The Catered Affair, The Singing Nun, Divorce American Style, Mother and In & Out, among many others. Here are clips from their greatest hits. I hope you enjoy.

One Remark

  1. That first photo exemplifies her natural beauty, a quality so rare in today’s Hollywood. I adored her.
