Showtune Sunday: Streisand in “Funny Girl”
It is hard to believe that Funny Girl was the first movie Barbra Streisand ever made.
Not only was she sensational in the role of Fanny Brice, but she won the Academy Award for best actress in a tie with Katharine Hepburn who won for The Lion in Winter.
This 1968 film is Streisand at her absolute best and, of course, it helped that she had originated the role on Broadway. Here are a few numbers from this sensational musical:

Great Post!
Streisand at her best and for the ages. I think that decades from now young fans will still discover how great Barbra could be. Sitting in the movie theater in 1968 and watching “Funny Girl” was an experience that truly changed me life and made me discover where my true interests were.
Bravo Barbra.

A person really shouldn’t miss her rendition of the Most Beautiful Bride on You Tube from the same movie. Don’t miss the chorus girl who almost looses it watching her when she first comes down the steps. Kirsten Chenowith does a parody of this for an Aid’s benefit. It’s fun to watch as well.
Streisand is a force to be reckoned with. A bit shy but definitely expects the best when you see her at work doing a film or otherwise.

The most beautiful bride song is “His Love Makes me Beautiful.”
