Showtune Sunday: MsMojo counts down the top 30 best Tony Award performances of all time

The Tony Awards bring Broadway to the small screen. MsMojo counts down its picks for the greatest musical performances at the annual Tony awards ceremony. The countdown includes “Gypsy,” “Cats,” “Company,” and more! The fact that Jennifer Holliday (Dreamgirls) and Bernadette Peters (Gypsy) are in the top 10 for performances I will never forget, makes this is a pretty credible list to me. Which of these Tony performances lives rent-free in YOUR head? Tell me in the comments!

One Remark

What a great post. Thank you for sharing.

I am so happy that my girl Jennifer made it as # 1. I have seen her in person on two occasions. One was Gay Pride in DC and a local version of Dreamgirls in Fort Worth. What a powerhouse.

The post has many standouts. All deserving. Neal Patrick is a quirky guy but is indeed a triple threat. What about Raul Esparza in Company? Another favorite of mine is Betty Buckley. From Eight is Enough to Cats. I saw her in Fort Worth in the 90s at the Caravan of Dreams. It was set up with small tables around the stage. I was front and center. She and I discussed her music stand blocking my view. She asked me jokingly if I would hold her music if it became a problem. I happily said yes. She graciously moved the stand to the side so all could see her. And after intermission, she made sure I could see. What a night.
