Showtune Sunday: Jonathan Groff channels Sutton Foster’s title tap number from “Anything Goes”
Jonathan Groff enlisted ensemble dancers from Broadway’s Tony Award-winning Anything Goes — and even learned Tony winner Kathleen Marshall’s choreography — to recreate the eight-minute title tap number from the Cole Porter musical at MCC Theater’s March 26 “Miscast” benefit several years ago. Here’s the number in all its glory, sung and danced at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan. The annual benefit brings together Broadway stars to perform songs from roles in which they’d never be cast.
BONUS VIDEO: Here is Sutton Foster rehearsing the same number. Amazing. Now that’s talent!
