Showtune Sunday: It’s all about the great star Dick Van Dyke who turns 95 today!

Dick Van Dyke, still a busy working actor, turns 95 today!

He’s best known, of course, for his self-titled classic 1960s television sitcom which is widely regarded as one of the greatest comedy series of all time. He also starred in the long-running drama Diagnosis Murder for eight seasons as a crime-solving doctor!

But the entertainment legend is also an impressive song and dance man who has starred in the big screen musicals Bye Bye Birdie, Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Two years ago he returned to the big screen in Mary Poppins Returns.

This seems like a perfect time to enjoy some musical moments from the versatile Van Dyke.

4 Remarks

  1. I can’t help but always enjoy Dick Van Dyke – I grew up watching him in movies and on TV. He reminds me of my great-uncle who died a few years ago. That being said, it just occurred to me watching the video from Bye Bye Birdie that the song “Put On a Happy Face” is basically the musical equivalent of a man telling a woman to smile. Not sure how I feel about that.

  2. He was/is quite a handsome man.

  3. Congratulations Dick, happy belated birthday

  4. This is my favorite DVD dance number.
