Showtune Sunday: All about the legendary Lucille Ball who was born on this day 106 years ago

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_XdgS9g4KjmM/RyzDB0pn4II/AAAAAAAAAyI/lixWWIYLjA0/s320/Mame-Lucy-main.jpgShe famously could not carry a tune on I Love Lucy and, well, she was no Ethel Merman in real life. (Heck, she wasn’t even Ethel Mertz in real life!)

But Lucille Ball was a real showbiz pro with excellent timing who was still singing and dancing on television up until the year before she died.

The first video is an elaborate song and dance number she did for Bob Hope’s 85th birthday special in 1988 – she was 76 at the time and still had great gams!

Also included are a hilarious number she did with Shirley MacLaine in the mid-70s, and some numbers from her big musical Mame. I especially love Bosom Buddies with Bea Arthur. Enjoy these clips on the occasion of Miss Ball’s 106th birthday weekend!
