Showtune Sunday: All about Dinah Shore!
I know most boys got home from school and wanted to go out an play.
I did plenty of that but there were days when I just wanted to stay in to watch Dinah!
That was the afternoon talk show hosted by the lovely Dinah Shore during the second half of the 70s and I can remember guests like Elizabeth Taylor during her Washington DC housewife phase and a post-Charlie’s Angels Farrah Fawcett as well as Lucille Ball and other faves.
My siblings and I didn’t really appreciate Dinah’s singing so much then and I remember one day our making fun of her version of the Captain & Tennille’s Love Will Keep Us Together lasting well into dinner.
So to make up for that disrespect, I devote the showtune spotlight this week to the great Dinah who had previously hosted The Dinah Shore Chevy Show and Dinah’s Place.

I loved Dinah Shore. I remember many an afternoon spent with Dinah Shore. Though never a famous singer to many today, she was a great singer back in her day. And I loved her Southern overbite.
