Who’s better than Sharon Gless? Very few that’s for sure. This two-time Emmy winner remains one of the hardest working actresses in showbiz. She went from Cagney & Lacey to The Trials of Rosie O’Neil to Queer as Folk. More recently, she’s been a regular on USA’s Burn Notice and got an Emmy nomination for her stunning performance as a psycho stalker during season 5 of Nip/Tuck.
Well, I just got word that Sharon’s independent film Hannah Free will have its world premiere at the San Francisco Frameline Film Feastival as the Gala Closing Night Film. It will screen at the Castro Theater on June 28.
Sharon plays Hanna opposite Maureen Gallagher as Rachel.
The characters grew up as little girls in the same small Midwest town where traditional gender expectations eventually challenge their deep love for each other. Hannah becomes an adventurous, unapologetic lesbian while Rachel is a strong but quiet homemaker. The film goes back and forth between past and present to show ho0w the women maintained their love affair despite a marriage, war, infidelities, and family denial.
Gless and the rest of the cast are expected to attend the world premiere where the film will be introduced, in person, by Rosie O’Donnell.
