“Sex and the City” Saturday: Are Carrie and Big like Katie and Hubble from “The Way We Were”?
At the end of this episode, Carrie smoothes Big’s hair with her hand and says, “Your girl is lovely Hubble.”
Big, whose fiancee is waiting for him in a car, has no idea what Carrie is talking about. Of course not! He’s not a woman or a gay man. Everyone knows that’s what Barbra’s Streisand’s Katie says to Robert Redford’s Hubble at the end of The Way We Were.
I actually think it’s rather hilarious that Carrie called Big “Hubble” but my favorite part of this episode comes earlier when Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte re-inact t scene over drinks. Samantha cannot participate because she hasn’t seen the film which she dismisses as “chick flick.”

I can relate to this scene. I left my ex almost thirty years ago and rarely does a day go by that I don’t think of him. Loving someone doesn’t mean you can be with them. I know. Life can go on.
