See ‘Hello, Dolly!’ star Bette Midler give a really long Tony Awards speech then talk a lot more backstage
I love how calm and focused the Divine Miss M remained as the orchestra attempted to play her off. She would not budge – or stop talking. Hey, she’s Bette Midler and she just won a Tony. She’s a huge star – an icon – and currently the Toast of Broadway. Her tribute to Carol Channing made it worth letting her go on and on a bit. Then backstage she doesn’t even start by taking a question – she just starts taking, and talking. Congrats to Bette who now only needs an Oscar to become an EGOT (this is her first competitive Tony win after a special Tony in the mid-70s).
