See Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s wonderful Valentine’s Day poem celebrating marriage equality
On Valentine’s Day, the Illinois State Senate passed a marriage equality bill by a vote of 34-21 setting the stage for the state to become the 10th in the US to allow gay marriage.
The state’s House of Representatives must now pass the bill which the governor of the state has promised to sign into law.
To celebrate the senate victory, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel posted this Rahmentine on his Facebook page.
He also said in a statement: “The freedom to marry the person you love is one that should be afforded to all citizens and, for too long, has been denied to our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters. When two people love each other, no government entity should stand in the way of letting them express that love.”
