Season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert says he would jump at chance to judge “American Idol”
Well, whaddaya know.
I remarked in an earlier post on how cool it would be to see Adam Lambert as a judge next season on American Idol.
Turns out he thinks it’s a pretty cool idea too.
‘Dude if they called me, “I’d be like yeah. Where do I sign?”’ Lambert tells Hollywood Life. ‘It would be very cool. It would be exciting.’
Adam’s interest comes as both Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj confirmed on Thursday that they will not be returning next season as judges. Longtime judge Randy Jackson had previously announced his departure with only the status of fourth judge Keith Urban unknown.
It was confirmed this week that Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, who placed sixth during season 3, is in negotiations to become a judge next season. This has led to speculation of an all-Idol alum team with possibly season one champion Kelly Clarkson and Lambert or season 2 runner-up Clay Aiken.
Adam thinks a former contestant could bring some valuable insight into the judging process on a show that has had a steady turnover in celebrity judges in recent years and seen its ratings decline.
‘It would be a really cool opportunity to help people coming into the show and to help them keep their vision focused because it does become overwhelming when you get in there and there’s so many people telling you what they think you should do and your family, the producer, the judges, and all the other contestants that might be screwing with your head,’ Lambert said. ‘I think it might be nice as a judge to help people stay focused. It gets crazy and to help them reach their dreams — it would be such a reward.’
