Dame Shirley Bassey celebrated 70 years in the business in 2020 with her latest album, ‘I Owe It All To You’. Shirley started singing as a young teenager back in 1950 performing at Men’s clubs at the Docs of Tiger Bay Wales, but only on Sunday’s. This was the only day the wives could attend. Shirley received her first professional contract to join musical reviews only three years later in 1953. She started as a chorus girl, but as soon as the producers discovered Shirley could sing, she was brought up front. Shortly after this Shirley gave up her dancing shoes. In 1956, Shirley received her first recording contract, and within the next two years she would receive her first number one single.
