Saturday Morning Man: Ryan Gosling!
He’s just 29 years old and already Ryan Gosling has the kind of film resume that most actors could only hope to have after an entire career: The Notebook, Lars and the Real Girl, The Believer, The United States of Leland, Murder By Numbers, Fracture and an Oscar-nominated performance in Half Nelson.
His current film, Blue Valentine, just screened at the Sundance Film Festival.
Not bad for a guy who started out in showbiz on The Mickey Mouse Club during the same era that Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. he dropped out of high school at age seventeen. He then moved to New Zealand, where he worked on the series Young Hercules for two years.
I’ve met Ryan twice and both times, he has just come off as such a nice and down-to-Earth guy. The first time was at the Hotel Rwanda premiere a few years back and he didn’t know I was a reporter. My friend and I wanted to snap a photo with him and he waved us in the VIP section and was just great. Then a few years later, I chatted him up on the red carpet at the premiere of Lars and the Real Girl and he was with his sister Mandi.
Any movie Ryan Gosling is in is a movie I want to see.
