Saturday Morning Man: Jurgen Melzer!

I’ll admit it. I hadn’t ever heard of Austrian tennis player Jurgen Melzer until yesterday. I came across his name while checking tennis results, thought he was really cute and had fun looking for more pics of him.

Jurgen and I do not have much in common it seems but we both play tennis left-handed and have two-handed backhands!

Jurgen reached a career-high singles ranking of #26 in 2009 and won his home country’s tournament in Vienna last fall. He’s also won seven doubles titles.

His other career highlights include winning Wimbledon in 1999 – well, it was the boys tournament. He’s now 28 years old and has the distinction of often being referred to as the best player on the tour to have not yet reached the fourth round of a major tournament.

Maybe he’ll reach that fourth round this year!
