Saturday Morning Man: Florian Mayer!

The US Open begins on Monday and it’s a pretty safe bet that the winner is going to be a guy named Federer or Nadal or Murray or Djokovic or maybe Roddick.

I don’t have much hope for German player Florian Mayer. But boy is the world’s 44th ranked player cute!

The 26-year-old pro was the Association of Tennis Professional’s newcomer of the year in 2004 and has been ranked as high as 33rd. He has made it as far as the quarterfinals of Wimbledon and has won nine titles on the ATP’s challenger tour.

He began playing tennis at the age of 5 and has won more than $2 million in his career.

Here’s hoping Florian can manage to make it through at least a few matches as the US Open so we can see some of him on television!
