Sara Gilbert emotional over success of new “Roseanne” show: “It’s my childhood…it’s just amazing to watch”
I watched the two new episodes of Roseanne last night join Hulu. I don’t really see why Donald Trump is all aglow over the show. The first episode had the election stuff that had pitted Roseanne against her sister Jackie but nothing too extreme. I think people are more put off by Roseanne Barr’s continued support of Trump whose administration has done so much to hurt so many in a very short time.
But the next episode was focused on Darlene’s son dressing in a gender fluid way and I thought it was a sweet episode.
Sara Gilbert, who still plays Darlene so well, got emotional on The Talk yesterday while discussing the huge debut of Roseanne after 20 years.
“We are so grateful to the fans. I mean it’s just unbelievable,” says Gilbert. “You’re always nervous before you do something. I was flying on the day of the premiere and I was kind of watching the clock and I was like “oh it’s coming on in New York, oh it’s coming on in Chicago” and when I got to Los Angeles, I was almost home and I was in the car and I was like, ‘oh my god it’s 8:01, it’s on in Los Angeles.’ I was like… I could cry now just thinking, it’s been so many years. You know, it’s my childhood…it’s just amazing to watch.”
Gilbert also appeared on Watch What Happens Live and answered Andy Cohen’s questions about everything pertaining to the Roseanne reboot including who had the funniest reaction when Sara proposed it and if there were any regrets.

Herb says:
As much as I disagree with Roseanne’s political views, this show is one of the few that has tried to deal with the issue of differing political views in a family. And it is still one of the few shows that doesn’t caricature lower income, small town Americans.

Greg, Trump is not all aglow over the show. He’s all aglow over Roseanne being on Team Trump.
K. Martinez says:
My issue isn’t with the show itself. It’s with Roseanne. I do not like her and I felt that way before all this. Everyone is free to watch what they want, but I won’t support her by watching the reboot. There’s plenty of other shows worth watching.
