Same-sex marriages resume in California! Prop. 8 plaintiffs Kris Perry and Sandy Stier first to get married
Just watched the live feed of Kris Perry and Sandy Stier getting married and it gave me happy chills.
They were married at 4:45 pm at San Francisco City Hall by state Attorney General Kamala Harris who pronounced them “spouses for life.”
They then kissed FOUR times!
Same-sex couples resumed getting married in California late Friday afternoon.
Perry and Stier were one of the two couples who were the plaintiffs in the successful challenge to Proposition 8.
The ban on same-sex marriages in California was lifted after the US Supreme Court on Wednesdaydeclined to reverse an appellate court decision that had declared the law unconstitutional.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Perry and Stier and Paul Katami and Jeff Zarrillo by the American Foundation for Equal Rights.
‘For Kris and Sandy, and gay and lesbian couples like them, this day is a long time coming,’ said Adam D. Umhoefer, executive director of AFER. ‘It’s a day when they can finally look into each other’s eyes and know that their love is equal in the eyes of the law.’
Meanwhile, Katami and Zarrillo (pictured below) also got a marriage license and were also set to get married Friday afternoon at Los Angeles City Hall.
