Rosie blogs about Michael Jackson
Rosie O’Donnell has not said or blogged much of anything about the LGBT civil rights battle raging in several states across the nation – including New York where she lives much of the time.
But the death of Michael Jackson inspired her to blog a tribute to the late pop star and I am sharing it with you because I always find Rosie interesting even when I’m disappointed in her:
what still remains
06.27.09 at 12:13 am in in the news, fame, love
after i heard he died
we went on the boat
to watch the sunset
I felt numb
nothing – empty
his life the Hollywood dream
his death it’s bitter truths
lonely
the light once flowed thru him
directly from the source
a shining stream poured out of him
never ending
few can even imagine the high of that
and the confusion it must bring
when u somehow become
what u saw in the others
who came before u
the ones who made u dream of dancing
revered him
fred astaire phoned
the boy from gary indiana
the boy who had the beauty beaten out of him
by the man who gave him life
then put him to work at 5
childhood lost
with no remember when – 2 get back 2
money cant buy it
publicists can deny it
but u must live it
ur truth
so what exactly do we mourn
the man
the music
the myth
we all saw him suffer
as his face fell in on itself
friends and family unable to reach in
he unable to reach out
many made millions
looking the other way
as he invited young boys to his bed
he turned into the thing he loathed
the man in the mirror
had no idea how to change his ways
“i’ve lived my life the lonely
a soul that cries of shame
with handicapped emotions
save me now from what still remains”
so now the crowds gather
endless tributes
the kind of love and adoration he seemed to crave
and he is not here to feel any of it
breaks my heart in every way
for his children
for the child he was
for the dreams he tried to live up to
i turned the boat around
looking at my 2 young children
happy with the wind in their hair
salty sea spray splashing their tiny faces
a storm was moving in
there thru the clouds
a beautiful rainbow appeared
and finally i cried
compassion
forgiveness
the only way thru is thru
start with u

Rosie, you are brillant. Best tribute. I respect your honest opinion and agree with you.
Anne says:
Beautiful…but the part about inviting boys to bed could have been left out…….Michael was acquitted of any wrong doing……these kids loved to go into his room…would they if they were abused there??his childlike demeanor explained why he allowed children in his bed….the rest of the poem was beautiful.
Jay says:
Very well written! I have been very sad at the lose of Michael I saw him as a child at the local state fair. Developed a connection as most do that have ever met him. For those who thought he was a freak most of us in one way or other would be a freak to someone. I think it is in the nature of people to point out differences and to kick people when they are down. But for those of us who believed in Michael saw the problems saw the quirks but relized the life he had must have been very difficult. He always seemed so sad and wanted to be loved but never felt that way if only he could have seen it now the love that has poured out for him.
He left us with so much the music the talent and so much more! There will never be another King of Pop! And for years from now he will be with us through the art he has created.
Diana says:
Wow, that’s nice. I’m very impressed.
Shirley MacDonald says:
Rosie,I have always admired you and for me that was a beautiful tribute. I,being a very sensitive and an abused person, can understand internalizing Michael Jackson’s pain. I am just a normal person in life with no wealth or talent, but can see how Michael has left a legacy that will continue to go on. Emotional mostly leaves pain that cannot be cured unless one can in someway use it to help others when they are young enough to be nutured and loved normally. I have read and listened to all Michael’s songs on Utube. I am 12 years older than Michael in age, but am sure I may meet him some where in my mind. I certainly hope that the dear Lord will know the truth and he is resting and finally has some peace. To me the more I read and listen, he is certainly deserves the title of Humanitarian and forever King of pop.
Brad says:
With the exception of the ridiculous comment about young boys this was a very touching poem.
Ren says:
Very nice. I’m glad she mentioned the sexual abuse of children. To the idiot who questioned whether kids would still want to go in his bed if they were getting abuse: Yes! They most likely would. A child doesn’t know that they are being violated until later. To them it feels good. Michael Jackson should rot in hell.
Mirela says:
Rosie, nice try but your obvious ignorance of Michael Jackson inviting children to his bed and not knowing the facts of the situation makes you nothing but a stupid idiot. And I thought you’re smart. What a dissapointment. Looks like Trump is right about you. Shame…
You cannot posibly think like that of someone you’re accusing is a peadophile on the same page.
What a truly lying peace of work you are.
Mirela says:
Ren, before you spew out shit like that maybe you should consider looking at the case closely. Your opinion on this would change. You probably are one of the sensitive ones who has been abused, but don’t let that mud your perception of things in life. Michael Jackson was innocent on any wrong doing as proven by the only opinion that matters. The Jury.
One day I hope you will understand but first your perceptions need changing.
Good luck
