Roger Federer makes it to final of Australian Open!
I am over the moon over this result – and sleepy as heck as I stayed up until past 2 am watching.
Roger Federer, the 17-time grand slam champ, reached his sixth Australian Open final by beating fourth-ranked Stan Wawrinka in a 7-5, 6-3, 1-6, 4-6, 6-3 thriller.
It’s the 35-year-old Fed’s first tournament in six months and he is clearly fully recovered from his injuries.
‘I never, ever, in my wildest dream felt I was going to be coming this far in Australia, and here I am,’ he said after the match.
‘It’s beautiful. I’m so happy.’
It’s Fed’s first slam final since the 2015 US Open which he lost to Novak Djokovic.
He will be trying to win the Australian Open for the fifth time on Sunday.
I will be rooting for my all-time favorite player quite vigorously. If it happens I will be in a stupendously good mood for days.
