Roger Federer kicks off a record 20th consecutive Wimbledon with an easy first-round win
My hero Roger Federer began his quest for a record-extending ninth Wimbledon men’s singles title earlier today with a victory.
Fed is celebrating a notable milestone at the All England Club this year: his 20th consecutive appearance in the main draw, the first man to do so.
And the eight-time champion is seeded first this year, is the defending champion, and still the man to beat just a month before his 37th birthday.
Federer won 6-1 6-3 6-4 against the world number 57 Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic.
