Robbie Rogers and Gus Kenworthy guest star on this week’s episode of ‘The Real O’Neals’
Greg In Hollywood faves Robbie Rogers and Gus Kenworthy make cameos in this week’s episode of the ABC sitcom The Real O’Neals.
And the openly gay pro athletes get a little bitchy with each other too.
But their main focus after magically appearing in the high school locker room is to give a much-needed pep talk to gay teen Kenny (Noah Galvin) who has joined the wrestling team. He is St. Barkley’s first out gay athlete.
‘Look at me, I’m not a wrestler, I’m a gay kid,’ Kenny laments.
Kenworthy tells him: ‘Whoa, you can be both. Being gay’s never stopped me from strapping on skis and dropping into a halfpipe.’
Adds Rogers: ‘And it didn’t stop me from becoming one of the first openly gay athletes in major league sports.’
At this point, the two begin to bicker a bit as Kenworthy accuses Rogers of a ‘humble brag’ and tells him that no one knows what an MLS Cup is.
(It’s Major League Soccer’s championship and Rogers has been on two winning teams).
When Kenworthy mentions that ‘I have a silver medal – from the Olympics’ Rogers asks: ‘Oh, were they out of gold that day?’
It’s Kenny who has to step in:
‘Gay athletes, stop fighting!’
The episode of The Real O’Neals airs on Tuesday.
