RIP Carrie Fisher – she will be very missed

Carrie Fisher died this morning and the world just suddenly got a little less smart and witty.

The actress and author was a personal favorite of mine and had been fighting for her life after suffering a heart attack last week while on a flight from London to Los Angeles.

Her death was announced early today by her family: ‘It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.’

Fisher, 60, had been especially busy in recent weeks promoting her latest book The Princess Diarist about the filming of the original Star Wars film.

She became an overnight star as Princess Leia and revealed in the book that she and co-star Harrison Ford has an affair during filming of the first movie.

Fisher is the daughter of movie legend Debbie Reynolds and the late singer Eddie Fisher.

Fisher’s gay fan base grew over the years especially after the success of her book Postcards From the Edge which was turned into a movie starring Meryl Streep and Shirley MacLaine.

She also became known for her witty talk show appearances and her one- woman show Wishful Drinking.

She is divorced from Hollywood agent Brian Lourd who later came out as gay and from music legend Paul Simon.

Fisher has famously battled drug addiction, depression and bipolar disorder.

5 Remarks

  1. I can’t believe it! I just want to cry right now. I was hoping and praying she was going to make it. RIP Carrie. You will be so greatly missed.

  2. I am heartbroken over Carrie’s passing. R.I.P.

  3. I can’t wait to say goodbye to 2016. Way too many of our favorites have left us. My heart goes out to Debbie Reynolds. Rest in peace, Carrie Fisher.

  4. Hubby and I just watched ‘Rogue One’ earlier in the evening. When we got to the end I couldn’t help but cry. Then the lights came up and I realized everyone in the theater was crying as well. It was collective grief and we’ll be feeling it for years to come.

God I hate this fucking year. The world has become a darker place without Carrie.

  5. My princess is gone! No longer have hope in 2017…will turn the lights out NYE.
