Ricky Martin and castmates pose for publicity shot for first Broadway revival of the musical “Evita”

You won’t be able to see Ricky Martin as Che in the upcoming Broadway revival of Evita until April 5, 2012 when the production is scheduled to open at The Marquis Theatre.

But previews will begin Monday, March 12, 2012 and tickets go on sale this Saturday at 10:00 am via / 1-800-745-3000.

Starring with Martin is Olivier Award-winning Argentinean actress Elena Roger as Eva Perón and Tony Award-winner Michael Cerveris as Juan Perón. The trio posed in New York City for a photo shoot with celebrity photographer Frank Ockenfels.

Michael Grandage will direct the production and Tony Award-winner Rob Ashford will choreograph.

5 Remarks

  1. I’m confused…If previews begin 3/12, why wont I be able to see martin until it opens on 4/5? Is he not performing in previews?

    Terry Cromwell says:

Greg, I know I should be excited about the casting of Ricky Martin as the role of Che – hoping his rendition will be improvement from Antonio Banderas’ “Julio-Iglesias-Channels-Elvis” rendition in the film adaptation. However, it’s the casting of uber-talented Michael Cerveris (whom I first took notice of during the last seasons of the TV show FAME, and have been a fan of ever since.

  3. It should be interesting to read the reviews of Evita with this particular combination of actors.

  4. Wasn’t Evita Blonde?

  5. The Gays will be taking over the theatre for Ricky!
