Raven-Symoné will be saying goodbye to ‘The View’ and hello again to ‘That’s So Raven’
Raven-Symoné will no longer be taking a little time to enjoy The View.
‘I’m excited and sad, but mostly excited. I have an announcement to make,’ she said on today’s show. ‘I’m going to be leaving before the year’s up.’
The one-time child star had been named co-host of the show in 2015 after being brought in to replace Rosie O’Donnell who had quit abruptly.
‘I’ve had such a good time. I’ve been on this panel with multiple females and I’ve had wonderful times with you….I’ve learned so much and I would say my experience has been multi-dimensional.’
While funny and charming with a wild array of colorful hairdos and lipsticks, she was often out of her depth during political discussions.
Earlier this year, for example, she asked on the air if US Supreme Court justices are elected.
Last year, her own father spoke out publicly when she said if she were an employer looking to make a hire, she would not consider any names that sounded too ethnic like ‘Watermelondrea.’
She is leaving the show to return to Los Angeles and work on a sequel to her popular Disney Channel series That’s So Raven which she did as a teenager.
‘We’re doing a That So Raven II – there’s no title yet. ‘I’m very excited,’ she said today.
Her TV character of Raven Baxter will be a single mother raising two kids and one of them is going to learn she has visions just as Raven does.
She is executive producer and work on that show had already seen her role on The View reduced to about one day a week.
