Rafael Nadal still reigning French Open king
Before the French Open began two weeks ago, I was hoping 2009 champ and four-time runner-up Roger Federer would turn back time and win a second title.
It did not happen with Federer losing in the fourth round.
If not Federer then Novak Djokovic who needed only a French Open crown to complete his collection of the four grand slam.
But alas, the big winner was, once again, Rafael Nadal who has won the tournament nine out of the last 10 years.
I like Nadal just fine but he must be stopped!
With the victory, he now has 14 grand slam singles titles – tied with Pete Sampras for second place on the all-time list and three behind all-time leader Federer with 17.
In addition to his nine French titles, Nadal has won Wimbledon twice, the US Open twice and the Australian Open once.
Just 28, how many more can he add before he retires?
