Tennis fans are giddy over the fact that British star Andy Murray, a two-time Wimbledon singles champion, is playing mixed doubles at the tournament this year with Serena Williams, a seven-time champion.
They won their first-round match on Saturday and it would be tons of fun if they can win a few more matches. They are both such superstars and this is Andy’s comeback after hip surgery.
Sylvester Stallone turned 73 this weekend so it seemed like a good time to post a bunch of photos of his younger very buff self.
This guy’s career has had amazing longevity thanks largely to two roles: Rocky Balboa (eight movies) and John Rambo (fifth film just completed production).
Then there was the later career franchise The Expendables which is rumored to have a fourth film in the works.
His non-franchise hits included Cliffhanger, Tango & Cash, and Demolition Man.
Stallone enjoyed some of the best reviews of his career for the drama Copland and earned a supporting actor Oscar nomination for Creed in which he reprised his role of Rocky Balboa. He won the Golden Globe and the Screen Actors Guild Award for the portrayal.
Hard to believe it’s been nearly 50 years since Bette Midler made her big splash performing at Continental Baths where she was a sensation and formed an everlasting connection with gay fans. Grammys, Emmys, Tonys were to follow and a pair of Oscar nods.
So nice to see Bette return to her roots in a way last weekend when she performed at World Pride.
One Life to Live may be long gone but the memories live forever – especially this one.
Gorgeous Tuc Watkins as David Vickers.David had made it a 4th of July tradition to wear this special speedo and it was a wonderful tradition.
One year, his hunky former co-star David A. Gregory joined him.
They had a bit of a catfight over who is fitter with Watkins, as David Vickers, saying to his younger rival: “When did you stop working out? You look kind of spongy.”
Tuc will soon begin shooting the film version of Broadway all-star production of the play The Boys in the Band.
Brian Justin Crum became a sensation when he appeared on America’s Got Talent in 2016 and finished in fourth place.
Earlier this year, the openly gay singer was a competitor on America’s Got Talent: The Champions and performed a cover of Elton John’sYour Song and advanced to the finals. He ultimately finished out of the top five but his star continues to burn bright and he is releasing new music.
Below is his latest video for the song I & U.
We saw Brian perform a sold out show at the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood a few months ago and he was dynamite. See him live when you can!
Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer has accomplished just about everything an athlete can in his illustrious career. 20 Gram Slam wins, eight Wimbledon victories, five consecutive US Open titles…what else is there to achieve? How about a round of 73 Questions? Roger takes Joe on a tour of the All England Club while talking about being a ball boy, the perfect serve, and what it’s actually like playing at Centre Court during Wimbledon.
Author Randy L. Schmidt, author of books on Judy Garland, Dolly Parton, and Karen Carpenter, sent me a copy of his latest book Carpenters: An Illustrated Discography and I will tell you exactly what happened.
I opened up the package, poured myself a Diet Pepsi and went out to my patio where I stayed for several hours reading every page.
True fans of the Carpenters will simply not be able to put this book down.
Randy has assembled a team of commentators, journalists, authors, musicians, and other entertainment industry figures for a series of in-depth, insightful, and opinionated conversations on every musical release by Richard and Karen Carpenter including Karen’s solo album, Richard’s solo album, and the albums released after Karen’s death in 1983.
Of course the hits like Close to You, Yesterday Once More, We’ve Only Just Begun, Top of the World, Hurting Each Other, Only Yesterday, I Won’t Last a Day Without You, For All We Know, Please Mr. Postman, and I Need to Be In Love are all covered but so are all the album cuts, the singles that didn’t do well and some of the songs that should have been singles.
It made me think back to more than 20 years ago when my friend Frank Groff and I stood chatting with Richard Carpenter, at length, after a benefit about the duo’s discography. I was able to ask him why Can’t Smile Without You wasn’t a single and things like that. Reading this book was like a continuation of that magical night that I will never forget.
The book is beautifully presented with more than 200 images, many never before seen. You can buy at on Amazon and other places.
This is quite a photo. Luke and Noah from As the World Turns (Van Hansis and Jake Silbermann), Sonny and Leo from Days of Our Lives (Freddie Smith and Greg Rikaart), and Lucas Jones from General Hospital (Ryan Carnes) plus Camryn Grimes from The Young and the Restless. They took part in a Daytime Pride event over the weekend! If I find video of their panel, I’ll post it. For now I have these postings from Freddie Smith and a joint interview he did with Greg Rikaart..
