Out actors Taylor Trensch and Noah Galvin to star in “Dear Evan Hansen” on Broadway
Taylor Trensch will step into the role originated by 2017 Tony winner Ben Platt in Dear Evan Hansen beginning in mid-January 2018.. He is currently appearing as Barnaby Tucker in Hello, Dolly!
Pratt will be leaving the Tony Award winning show for Best Musical in November so during the gap before Trensch is available, Noah Galvin will step into the title role for more than six weeks. The former star of TV’s The Real O’Neals will begin his run on November 21.
“Evan is such a complex and rewarding role, and I can’t wait to see Noah and Taylor make it their own,” director Michael Greif said in a statement. “Nothing excites me more than working with young talent, and both young men are incredibly skilled and surprising performers.”
In addition to his current performance in Hello, Dolly!, Trensch has appeared on Broadway as Christopher in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Michael Wormwood in Matilda and Boq in Wicked.
Galvin was seen off-Broadway in The Burnt Part Boys, Love and Information and What I Did Last Summer.
