Olivia Newton-John was born 75 years ago today

Lovely Olivia Newton-John, who died during the summer of 2022, was born 75 years ago today.

Of course we are all familiar with her biggest hits including I Honestly Love You, Let Me Be There, Have You Never Been Mellow, If You Love Me (Let Me Know), Hopelessly Devoted to You, Please Mr. Please, Physical, Magic, A Little More Love, Physical, Summer Nights, You’re the One That I Want, Make a Move on Me, Magic, Heart Attack, Twist of Fate, and Xanadu.

But there’s some songs pre-Grease that I also really enjoy. They made the top 20 and are just so good including Sam, Come On Over, Don’t Stop Believin’ and her first U.S. hit If Not For You.

What a special woman and special talent.

One Remark

  1. “Sam” was the song that cemented my life-long love for Olivia Newton-John. I was 10 or 11 when the song was playing on the radio, and it just spoke to me in such a way, I’ve never forgotten it. Of course I’d heard some of her other hits before that, but for me, “Sam” was the moment I truly became an eternal fan.

And to learn as I got older that she was such an amazing, loving, talented, and supportive person on top of that? It’s such a tragedy that she died so young, but I’m so very grateful that she lived and she gave us so much music and so many movies and just so much joy that she will be remembered forever.
