Nyle DiMarco wins ‘Dancing With the Stars’ – see his stunning freestyle dance to ‘Souns of Silence’
Hunky Dancing With the Stars contestant Nyle DiMarco has become the first deaf and first LGBT person to win the television competition.
The actor/model and his professional partner Peta Murgatroyd were crowned last night and seemed to seal victory a day earlier after performing a stunning freestyle routine to Disturbed’s cover of Sounds of Silence that left judges gobsmacked.
Judge Carrie Ann Inaba called it simply ‘the best dance I have ever seen … in 22 seasons.’
She also said: ‘What was so profound about it is not only do I see a man who wants to prove that he can dance … but I also see a man that is proving he can change the world through dance.”
Her fellow judge Bruno Tonioli said: ‘That was beyond dancing, that was a work of art.bI have chills.’
The third judge, Len Goodman, said it wasn’t just a dance for deaf people.
‘It was a dance for everyone. Nyle, you’re a very special person. And that was a very special dance.’
