NFL’s Aaron Rodgers addresses gay rumors and says: ‘I’m not gay. I really, really like women’
Wouldn’t that have been great if Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had been the first NFL player to come out as gay during his career?

It would have been great because he is a real superstar, the 2011 Super Bowl MVP with good looks and wide appeal.

There was all kinds of buzz online that his one-time rumor and personal assistant was essentially outing him in a series of deleted tweets.

I didn’t write about it because it was just too gossipy at that point.

But now that Aaron has addressed the reports, I feel glad to be able to report about it but a bit sad to report that he is telling the world that he is heterosexual.

“I’m just going to say I’m not gay,” Rodgers said Tuesday on 540 ESPN Milwaukee. “I really, really like women. That’s all I can really say about that.”

He added: “There’s always going to be silly stuff out there in the media which you can’t worry too much about, and I don’t. So, just, keep on trucking. I think professional should be professional, and personal is personal.”

Well, good luck to him. The Packers have made the playoffs thanks to a last-minute touchdown he threw on Sunday.

3 Remarks

  1. I’m one of those people who takes people at their word about their sexuality.

If they say they’re bi, then I accept that. I don’t think, “Oh, he’s really gay but in denial”.

If they say they’re straight, I accept that, too.

We need an NFL player to come out on his own, and not be forced out by a jealous ex-boyfriend. I hope that day comes in 2014.

  2. The truth will surface this spring, if not before.

  3. I agree with you James, Jim also has a point, the truth will out.
