New book alleges Katharine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy and others had same-sex encounters arranged

Well, we know Rock Hudson was gay. We’ve wondered about Cary Grant. But Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn?
Ia new book called Full Service: My Adventures in Hollywood and the Secret Sex Lives of the Stars, 88-year-old Scotty Bowers alleges that the iconic movie couple were among the famous stars who turned to him to arrange their same-sex encounters.
‘I’ve kept silent all these years because I didn’t want to hurt any of these people,’ Bowers tells The New York Times. ‘And I never saw the fascination. So they liked sex how they liked it. Who cares?’

    Gaspar Marino says:

I believe it…During those days in Hollywood the studios protected the stars. It was so sad that they had to stay in the closet all of their lives, that’s why I think more Hollywood stars should come out today, in honor of all the great actors and actresses who in their day were oppressed. Holloywood, learn from your prior mistakes and move on….Being gay does not diminish talent.

  2. That they had them-yes, common knowledge. That they had them arranged-have to read the book. Considering the studio system at the time, might have happened.

  3. methinks Cary Grant’s family is in denial about him being gay.

there’s plenty of proof out there about Kate being bi. but for a definitive account on her life (besides her memoirs), read Barbara Leaming’s bio.

I agree with James Curtis (whose bio on Spencer Tracy was easily one of the best books of last year, fiction or non fiction) that the claims of Tracy being bi are unverified. A few years ago, one of Liz Taylor’s more innacurate bios said that Richard Burton was bi (there’s no solid proof to back that up either!). Walter Pidgeon was married to his wife Ruth for 53 years and this is the first time that I’ve heard gay rumors about him.

Scotty Bowers also alleges that Vivien Leigh was a hooker before she made Gone with the Wind. Yeah, I don’t think she would be prostituting while acting in movies/play in the UK…

The whole book has shades of Kenneth Anger and Hollywood Babylon

  4. I think Kate Hepburn and Spencer Tracy were the biggest COWARDS.

  5. Well, hell; you connect the dots: Spencer Tracy was Catholic, married with two children but barely lived with them or acknowledged them (save for publicity’s sake) and drank himself to death by the age of 67. AND shacking with with an actress who was a grown-up tomboy. Call the fire department ’cause I smell smoke!
